The Sei Foundation has proposed an upgrade to its blockchain, primarily targeting a transition to Version 2. This upgrade will introduce a high-performance, parallelized Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM). If the upgrade is approved, it will take place one week after the acceptance of the governance proposal. Additionally, this will enable Ethereum-based contracts to operate on Sei with sub-second finality. Prominent Ethereum-based applications, such as Uniswap and Balancer, plan to utilize the Sei v2 network. This step follows a $30 million funding round by Sei Labs to support the blockchain’s ecosystem.
