Samsung will spearhead a tree-planting drive in Madagascar and use distributed ledger technology to trace its progress. On Monday, Samsung Electronics America announced at the CES Tech Conference in Las Vegas that it will plant two million mangrove trees in Madagascar within the next three months in collaboration with veritree, a blockchain-based climate solutions platform. Veritree manages the reforestation procedure and certifies each tree planted using blockchain technology.The tree-planting initiative is a major part of Samsung’s nature-based environmental sustainability action program, particularly to trap and store carbon dioxide (CO2) from the atmosphere.
