Mad Money host Jim Cramer says that he is preparing to sell his entire Bitcoin (BTC) holdings following a quantum computing discussion that sparked further debate around crypto security.
His comments came after a July 31 interview with IBM Chairman and CEO Arvind Krishna, who warned that quantum computers could eventually challenge today’s encryption standards, adding that investors should be ‘paranoid’ about the risk.
“Arvind Krishna knows quantum incredibly… He knows Bitcoin and quantum. And I’m going to sell mine,” Cramer said on CNBC, referring to the crypto asset.
Cramer has, however, not disclosed the size of his Bitcoin holdings, and as no wallet has been securely linked to him, it remains impossible to verify whether he even owns or has begun selling his crypto.
The asset itself appears unphased by Cramer’s words and the quantum security discussion, trading at $63,720 at press time after a 1.65% daily uptick.
