Binance has agreed to pay a fine of $1.81 billion over a two-year period and forfeit an additional $2.51 billion as part of a settlement with the US Department of Justice. The company’s founder, Changpeng Zhao, will also pay a penalty of $50 million. This settlement follows charges of evading US sanctions against Iran and Sudan by allowing users in those countries to trade on the platform. As part of the agreement, Zhao is barred from any involvement with Binance.
