SEC Considers Staking Integration for Crypto ETFs Following Industry Talks
The United States Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) is considering allowing staking in crypto-related exchange-traded funds (ETFs). If approved, this could provide investors with an opportunity to earn staking rewards directly through their ETF holdings while also contributing to the security of proof-of-stake (PoS) blockchain networks.
The idea was floated by some top executives of prominent crypto companies, including Jito Labs and Multicoin Capital. According to a memorandum, these executives which includes Jito Labs CEO Lucas Bruder, Chief Legal Officer Rebecca Rettig, and Multicoin Capital’s Managing Partner Kyle Samani and General Counsel Greg Xethalis met with the SEC’s new task force to discuss the possibility of implementing staking within ETFs, two weeks after their establishment.
