Microsoft has embarked on a journey in personal computing by introducing an “AI Copilot” key to Windows keyboards, a first in nearly three decades since the addition of the Windows key. This development, announced on the Windows Experience Blog by executive vice president Yusuf Mehdi, signifies a monumental shift towards integrating artificial intelligence into the fabric of everyday computing.
Microsoft’s Copilot Integration
The Copilot key is designed to offer users effortless access to Microsoft’s Copilot virtual assistant. With a simple press, the key activates the assistant, although details about its full range of functionality remain under wraps. This strategic move is part of Microsoft’s broader commitment to infusing AI across its product spectrum, evidenced by its substantial investment in OpenAI and integration of AI capabilities into its services.
In a parallel stride, Microsoft has rebranded its mobile Edge browser, now known as “Microsoft Edge: AI Browser.”
